Siberian kittens and cats have long been cherished for their excellent hunting skills and friendly personalities. They are one of the oldest cat breeds known, having naturally adapted to the harsh weather of Siberia.

Siberian kittens and cats have long been cherished for their excellent hunting skills and friendly personalities. They are one of the oldest cat breeds known, having naturally adapted to the harsh weather of Siberia.
In order to survive this region, it is thought that Siberians came to produce less of the FEL d 1 protein in their saliva to be less detectable to other, larger predators. This is important because this protein causes most of the allergic reactions people can have to cats. That's why Siberians kittens are considered somewhat hypoallergenic kittens. Each cat will have a different level of the FEL d1 protein and will have a different level of tolerance to someone who is allergic to this particular protein.

We are a small cattery with three girls and one male.
We have purposely chosen to try and purchase foundation kittens from catteries with small numbers.
We knew by doing this, the kittens would be exposed to fewer cats and, in turn, less illness within the area they were born.

By staying small ourselves, we can give each cat and kitten the attention and socialization they need and offer the healthiest environment for all to enjoy and thrive.
Kittens are born in a completely different area of our home, away from traffic, noise, and other cats.

Dr. Martin studied medicine at Auburn University and is practicing, along with his partner, at Crestline Pet Care and Village Petcare in Mountain Brook in Birmingham, Alabama. Craig is also a private pilot should you need your kitten in a hurry!

Starting May 10, 2024, Miu offers all kittens sold a 1-year, prepaid Health insurance policy through Fetch Pet Insurance for any illnesses your pet may have. Kittens are Accident Prone!
If adopting families wish to purchase additional well insurance they are encouraged to do so as it will also cover any well visits, help with vaccinations, help with spay and neuter costs as well as dental.

Testing
In addition to all needed inoculations and worming, the following tests have been done on Miu's potential "cat parents" to breed the healthiest kittens possible.
- Before kittens are even born, or purchased, parents are screened on PawPeds database for inbreeding and potential inheritable disease within a cat's linage.
- Initial full blood work panel.
- Screening of genetic disease through basepaws cat genetics testing for any inheritable kidney/ heart problems.
- Echocardiograms through Board Certified Cardiologist-Auburn University, to check for HMC.
- Testing can be done on kittens to check for FEL d1 to see levels of this protein present at new home's cost. Home | KittenTesting.com

Barry is a retired High School Principal, Coach and Wholesale Stockbroker. He currently is enjoying his retirement at home and our cat business.
Melissa is a Culinary Arts Instructor who grew up working for her dad, Elliott Martin DVM, in their family business-Martin Animal Hospital which was open for 57 years.

How did we, the Allphin's, located in Alabama, find ourselves raising Siberian kittens? That's a story that covers many years.
Melissa's father, was intrigued with Siamese cats back in the 1950's and 60's. So much so that he bred these elegant cats himself. His daughters, Meredith and Melissa (later brother Craig-also a vet) grew up thinking Siamese kittens came from Santa Clause on Christmas morning.
Growing up with this influence and under the tutelage of her father, Melissa has long been interested in the breeding of animals and genetics.
When Melissa and husband Barry adopted an older child who wanted a cat but was allergic to them, they searched and found their first Siberian kitten, Meg, after reading that Siberians had less allergens present (and it's true!).
Later, when Barry retired, they began their own cattery out of the love they had for that first kitten so that others might enjoy this delightful breed.
